Spider Monkey Coffee Co is a coffee roasting & coffee bar company that started back in 2013 with a small home roaster. Using the more traditional roasting methods of hearing, smell, sight and more excitingly, taste.
We still rely on these traditional methods today as we continue to grow our coffee roastery alongside more up to date roasting technology. You will never hear us talk about pre-program roasting as we believe there is no such thing and we like to be hands on at all processes of our coffee roasting recipes.
We were born out of a slight frustration of the ever growing ‘pretentious’ coffee market, thus deciding on making great coffee more accessible to any coffee ‘newbies’ just like we were all those years ago.
Our mission is to spread the joy of speciality coffee and make it available to everyone through tasting classes, retail coffee for home baristas and from a more grounded coffee experience and service. We want to continue to enhance the ritual and social aspects of coffee. We truly are ‘social animals’ and we want you to be part of the journey to finding the best, most sustainable, most flavoursome coffee out there.
Our speciality green beans are sourced from around the world and roasted with real passion in Scotland, just as it’s brewed and served with the same passion we have in our coffee bars. We only roast coffees we would drink ourselves and serve in our own coffee shop, giving real confidence to those buying for home or for wholesale.
We have realised over the years that great coffee doesn’t have to be complicated and we do all the hard work so you can enjoy fabulous tasting coffee consistently. In fact what we do is relatively simple…find the best green beans, roast them by hand, with a love and passion for what we do.
The complicated bit… but equally exciting and enjoyable, is pulling as many original & complex flavours from our coffee beans that stand out in any brew method you choose.
We don’t just roast coffee, we also brew for our own consumption (sometimes a little too much) … & for yours. We are always available for any advice on brew methods and recipes as we pride ourselves on our brewing techniques and knowledge through experience of sourcing, roasting and brewing.
